Have you a few days to spare? Because if you want to discover the Meuse from source to estuary, you’ll be setting out on a tour of Europe. A 1000 km cycling route meanders from Langres in France to Hook of Holland.
We’ve cut out the finest part of it for you. A 63 km-long route along a row of historic villages and endless banks and shores. On the dyke there is not a car in sight, only quaint villages such as the market square of Maaseik and the jewel in the crown of all Flemish villages: Oud-Rekem.
That the Meuse is the boss is something you understand here, where the river is so wild that few can navigate it. You pedal with migratory birds at your side and with glimpses of wild grazers, along gravel ponds, old river tributaries and an overwhelming amount of beauty. Want to bet you won’t want to go home afterwards?
